Story

A grief-centered murder mystery told in six chapters, where your choices determine how many clues are available for the final protagonist, the detective, as she questions all the previous playable characters. Each chapter of this emotional story-driven game features a unique protagonist, game mechanics, story, and narrative, all tied together by the murder of Ret and Flaire Avidine.

Ventreville’s narrative has been lovingly crafted, and all of its characters are thoughtful, enjoyable, and complex. It is a game that acknowledges life’s many pains, yet through them, wishes to connect people in our hope for a more gentle, beautiful, and empathetic story.

Our first chapter explores the shocking grief of a coming-of-age story in an industrial fantasy setting. As our eighteen-year-old protagonist meets the esteemed Ret Avidine, Orven has it all: his hero, his city, and his ideals. But when Ret’s project fails, Orven must come into his own adulthood and make difficult decision after decision as he maneuvers through punishing healthcare systems that pit his welfare against his goodness. As Orven’s resolve is tried, it is your choices that determine whether his hope can break through the pervasive smog.
